Sporting Groups

For over 25 years, Bunnik Travel has been a trusted provider of specialised inbound services for sporting groups — it’s actually one of the oldest parts of the Bunnik Group’s business! In 1997, the journey began when Bunnik Travel was appointed by the South Australian Soccer Federation (now Football SA) as the official travel agent for their Japanese pre-season training camp program.

Working in collaboration with the South Australian Soccer Federation (SASF) and the Government of South Australia, Office for Recreation, Sport, and Racing (ORSR), Bunnik Travel managed all travel arrangements for professional Japanese Soccer Teams (J-League) and the Japan National Teams during their pre-season training camps in Adelaide, gearing up for the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France.

In the lead up to the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics, Bunnik Travel was appointed the official travel partner of the Government of South Australia for the "Prepare to Win" campaign, an initiative designed to entice overseas countries to choose Adelaide as the base for their teams' pre-Olympic acclimatisation. The campaign was a huge success, with over 1,200 athletes and officials from 26 countries across 36 sports coming to Adelaide for their pre-Olympic and pre-Paralympic training.

Following the Olympics, our Sports Training Camp program expanded its reach, attracting sporting teams from National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) schools to Australia for training and competition. As a result of this program, Bunnik Travel established strong connections with the sport of Lacrosse, regularly hosting teams from the USA, Canada, and Japan. Additionally, Bunnik Travel played a pivotal role in managing the travel arrangements for Japanese soccer teams participating in matches across Australia during the AFC Champions League (ACL).
